Our pre-primary aims to offer a happy, caring and secure learning environment for children aged 3 to 5 years old.
Here they can develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.
Children are active learners who learn most effectively through “doing” – experimenting, discovering and exploring. Play is an essential part of a child’s early development.
Through play, our children learn to engage and interact in the world around them. It encourages the use of their imagination and creative abilities,
and builds a desire to explore and discover.
Our daily program provides a stimulating group-centered environment with age-appropriate educational and play materials.
Our two different age groups classes are facilitated by qualified teachers with a trained class assistant. Grade RRR consists of the younger children (age 3-4) and
Grade RR the older group (age 4-5). The teachers facilitate the children’s learning by following a planned integrated curriculum, whereby they interact with children during
teacher-directed learning times together with free play both indoors and outdoors.
The children have the opportunity to work in groups or as individuals in art activities such as painting, drawing, play dough, construction, etc. They are able to explore
the world through dress-up, the book corner, music, movement and drama, and they are stimulated through puzzle building, baking, guided math activities and other exciting challenges.
The foundational skills of pre-reading (listening, recall, understanding), pre-writing (fine and gross motor; eye-hand co-ordination) and pre-maths (numbers, shapes, colours)
are encouraged as they are all important for the success of a child once they reach a formal schooling.
Basic life-skills will also be incorporated into the daily program to support the parents in teaching their children manners, safety and hygiene.
Playschool should be an extension of the home, therefore family values are promoted.
Although we have our own building with a separate entrance in Adderley Street, we still fall under the banner of Logos.
Each child is loved and cared for as a unique individual creating a secure and positive self image which in turn helps develop empathy, positivity and kindness
towards one another. Our school has a Christian ethos and we believe ‘Train up a child in the way he should go: when he is old he will not depart from it.’ Proverbs 22:6
