Our preschool engaging in play activities

PLAY | BUILD | GROW

Learning through play | Play is a vital component of early childhood social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. As children play, they naturally interact with their surroundings, engage their imaginations and develop their creative abilities.

Daily programme | Our daily programme offers a stimulating group-centred environment with age-appropriate educational and play materials.

We have a combined Grade RR (ages 4-5) and Grade R (ages 5-6) class, facilitated by a qualified teacher and a trained class assistant.

Learning approach | Our teachers follow a planned, integrated curriculum that combines teacher-directed learning with free play, both indoors and outdoors.

The following foundational skills and values are emphasised to prepare children for formal schooling:

  • Pre-reading – listening, recall and understanding

  • Pre-writing – fine and gross motor skills and eye-hand coordination

  • Pre-maths – numbers, shapes and colours

  • Basic coding and robotics – critical thinking skills and collaboration

  • Basic life skills – manners, safety and hygiene

Promoting values and moral character | Our school program encourages the development of Biblical character traits that will benefit children for life. We believe school should be an extension of the home by partnering with parents and promoting family values.

Thematic learning and activities | Throughout the year, we introduce various themes to increase vocabulary and general knowledge within a fun learning environment.

Children have the opportunity to work individually and in groups and are stimulated by a range of interactive activities including painting, drawing, playing with playdough, puzzle building, baking, guided maths challenges and problem solving through construction.

They are also encouraged to explore the world through fantasy play, the book corner, music, movement and drama.

Unique opportunities | We live in a digital world and our young learners have access to the school’s Computer Centre where they have the opportunity to discover the world of Science through experiments and practical applications.

By fostering a love for learning and providing a nurturing environment, we aim to support your child’s growth and development during these crucial early years

Integration into the school community | Pre-primary students are an integral part of the Logos family. They participate in all school activities, including fun days, inter-house sports competitions, sporting events, and assemblies with older students.

All our children play in a safe environment where teamwork and respect for one another are modelled and encouraged.

Individual care with a holistic approach | Each child is loved and cared for as a unique individual, fostering a secure and positive self-image within the world in which they live. This, in turn, helps develop empathy, positivity, and kindness towards one another.

Our motivation is guided by the wisdom principle, “Train up a child in the way he should go: when he is old, he will not depart from it.” –Proverbs 22:6
