Grade 1-3 – Foundation phase | A holistic & integrated approach
Our Primary School starts by focusing on reading, writing, and maths to build a strong foundation. Our curriculum – based on the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) guidelines – includes:
English (Home Language)
Afrikaans (First Additional Language)
Mathematics
Life Skills
With a maximum of 16 learners per class, our children benefit from favourable teacher to student ratios. As children learn best through seeing, hearing, and doing, we offer learning opportunities such as project-based group tasks, hands-on science experiments and coding & robotics.
Building strong mathematical skills:
At Logos, our focus for grades 1-3 is on interactive and hands-on learning and manipulation of concrete objects. This approach ensures that students grasp fundamental concepts before tackling more complex problems.
Language is a key tool for thinking and communication:
By using language effectively, learners can think critically, gain knowledge, express their creativity and identity, and communicate their feelings and ideas. Language skills also enhance their ability to interact with others and manage their experiences. At Logos, we offer English as the Home Language and Afrikaans as the First Additional Language.
School is not just about academic achievements:
Beyond the academic checklist, character development is at the forefront of our holistic programme. From Grades 1-3, students engage in Creative Arts and PE. We encourage participation in social responsibility projects and team sports like mini-cricket, soccer, netball and hockey, as well as athletics competitions, swimming galas, and tennis tournaments.
Students at Logos learn and play in a happy and safe environment that promotes teamwork and mutual respect. Our vibrant and exciting foundation phase programme is designed to develop language, mathematical and life skills.
Grades 4-7 – Intermediate phase | Learning should be a journey in discovery
Robertson Logos is an English-medium school that welcomes many pupils who speak other languages at home. English is the primary language of learning and teaching for all subjects and Afrikaans as a First additional language. Our school follows the CAPS curriculum.
In the Intermediate Phase (Grades 4-6) and the first year of the Senior Phase (Grade 7), we teach the following subjects:
English Home Language
Afrikaans First Additional Language
Mathematics
Natural Sciences & Technology
Social Sciences (History & Geography)
Visual Arts & Drama
Coding & robotics
Physical Education
In Grade 7, students are also introduced to Economic Management Sciences (EMS).
A personalised approach:
Our small classes, with excellent teacher-to-student ratios, offer significant benefits to our learners. Each class is limited to 16 students, ensuring personalised attention.
A comprehensive learning approach:
In recognising the importance of visual, auditory, and hands-on learning experiences, we promote learning opportunities like project-based group tasks and weekly sessions in the Junior Computer Centre where students can explore coding & robotics. Each quarter, the students take part in an Entrepreneurial Day to learn basic marketing and business skills.
Beyond the academic:
Education at our school is more than just academic achievements; character development is a key focus of our holistic program. From Grades 4 to grade 7, Creative Arts and PE are integral parts of the curriculum.
Students are also encouraged to participate in social responsibility projects and team sports such as cricket, soccer, netball, and hockey, as well as athletics competitions, swimming galas, tennis, and chess tournaments.
